Offers: How to Handle Them

One thing for certain is that nobody knows the true value of the items on sale than the store owner.

Once a Depop store is open for business, offers will start flowing for the items listed. And just like in every type of transaction, there’s going to be good offers and bad offers. It’s pretty easy to get annoyed at low ballers but that’s part of the game

Things to keep in mind:

  • Buyers will always want a bargain
  • Depop is mostly a young demographic

Good stores will find a middle ground with the buyer to keep profits as high as possible. Every person has their own way of valuing things so negotiating that’s where true business is conducted.

Helping your Depop Store thrive

Taking good pictures of your items will do wonders for a Depop Store
Getting pictures to market a store is a very good way to show people what style the store specialized in.

One of the cool things about operating a Depop Store is the fact that you are in control of how it performs. There’s no waiting around for people to come across your site randomly. Whether it’s

  • Websites

There are different types of ways to make the store more visible to people locally or worldwide. The fastest way to gain traffic to a Depop Store is using the app’s own boosting feature, which acts sort of like paid advertising. A store can choose to boost certain listings or the entire store at once.

Social Media

With social media, friends and family can be potential customers, targeting them is a good idea. Additionally, with clever use of hashtags, a broader audience can be tapped into.

Website

A website is a popular choice for businesses to market their products and services through search engines like Google and Bing. So why not use one for a Depop Store? It works well with most platforms with easy-to-use URLs.

Print

Nothing wrong with old-fashioned marketing. Printing cards and flyers will catch people’s attention when done correctly. Placing them in places where they will for sure be seen is also very important. Cafes and universities are good places to start since younger generations are into the resale market.

Clothes With Highest Profit Margin

Two workers calculating
Profit margins don’t have any limits

So you think you got what it takes to make big bucks by reselling on apps like Depop and Poshmark. Well, it’s not going to be as easy as listing any item you get your hands on.

Buyers will have preferences, that’s the business of  resale, or any industry for they matter. Some pieces will be held in high regard while others will sit for a long time.

The biggest thing is making sure you’re selling, because if you’ve gone weeks and months with nothing to show for it, something is definitely going wrong.

Formal Dresses

One of the highest profit margins in resale is dresses. For quinceañeras, prom night, weddings, and so on.

These items can sell for well over 200 dollars and are quick to go. At my store, I sold a dress for about 300 dollars within the first month of opening.

Jerseys

Sports fanatics are crazy about their favorite players and teams. They will buy merchandise without question. It may not go for crazy sums of money but accumulated profit is sure.

Quality

Most definitely, people will want items that are in good condition and of good material. A good way to ensure quality of buying from renowned brands and stores.

The importance of quality is shown after a purchase is made. For example, on Depop, buyers will be able to review sellers and if the quality isn’t what they were expecting, they will make themselves heard.

Bad reviews will keep future buyers away and decrease profits over time.

Difference Makers

Selecting high-profit-margin clothing items is crucial for business success. They maximize returns on investment, boost cash flow, and enable scaling without heavy marketing spend. In fashion’s slim-margin world, top categories like luxury or ethnic wear can deliver 70-150% profits, outpacing low-margin basics and ensuring sustainability.

Selling Clothes in Houston

Showing a shopper like what you will find in the clothing resale scene in Houston Texas.
So many people are in the clothing business here in Houston

Houston’s resale clothing scene is all about smart style and second chances. In a city known for its diversity and fast-moving fashion, resale offers a way to stay fresh without overspending. From curated vintage shops to online marketplaces and local pop-ups, people in Houston are turning pre-loved pieces into everyday staples.

Selling resale clothing here isn’t just about clearing out a closet—it’s about understanding what moves. Streetwear, designer finds, and unique vintage pieces tend to perform well, especially when they match Houston’s bold, expressive style. Condition matters, but so does presentation; clean photos, honest descriptions, and fair pricing go a long way in building trust with buyers.

There’s also a strong community angle. Resale connects people across neighborhoods, whether through flea markets, thrift events, or social media. It’s sustainable, practical, and creative all at once—giving clothes a longer life while helping sellers make extra income.

In Houston, resale isn’t just a trend—it’s a growing culture built on style, hustle, and reinvention.

Reselling Options

Selling clothes today comes with more options than ever, especially in a large, style-driven city like Houston. One of the most common avenues is online resale platforms such as Depop, Poshmark, and eBay, where sellers can reach a wide audience and set their own prices. These platforms work best for trendy, branded, or niche items and reward strong photos and clear descriptions.

Depop is a top reselling app.

Local options also play a big role. Consignment shops and thrift stores offer a more hands-off approach—sellers can drop off items and let the store handle pricing and sales, though payouts are typically lower. For those who prefer direct interaction, flea markets, pop-up events, and community markets provide opportunities to sell in person and build a local customer base.

Social media has become another powerful tool. Platforms like Instagram, Facebook Marketplace, and even TikTok allow sellers to showcase pieces, connect with buyers, and build a brand around their style. This route often requires more effort in promotion but can lead to higher margins and repeat customers.

Each avenue comes with trade-offs between effort, control, and profit, so the best choice depends on how involved a seller wants to be and what kind of clothing they’re offering.

Selling an Item on Depop

I recently sold this pair of shorts.

Showing the item I sold on Depop which is a pair of Adidas shorts.

The process is very easy. The first step is listing the item on the app in your account. It’s very similar to making a post on IG.

Be prepared to provide information like:

  • Size
  • Condition
  • Brand
  • Color

This is what the app looks like when you first open it.

In the bottom menu you’ll see the tab for selling, it’s the plus sign with the word sell under it. You click it and it will take you to this screen.

Depop has an AI description generator making it easy to describe your item based on the pictures you post. You get to choose whether to use the generated description or come up with yours.

And just like in social media, you can use hashtags and keywords to improve search engine results. Even more, you can boost your listings to make them appear on the top of search results.

Depop does charge boosting fees. These fees only apply if the buyer interacts with your boosted listing and purchases within 28 days. With that said, the organic listing stays active. Boosting adds an extra placement that helps teach more buyers

Sorry Depop I Will Be Using You Extensively

So everyone is on Depop now, the clothing resale app making it easier for users to make money off their closets.

Easy SEO

Man have I been working with SEO. From being a content writer to trying different roles, I’ve been trying to become a true SEO since the 2010’s.

Working on my SEO skills through the years

First time I learned about SEO was when interning for a sports website. When writing sports articles on WordPress, I would see the sections in the CMS with information regarding search engines.

As a content writer, I would write for a firm’s clients while adhering to their rules regarding search engine optimization.

On my own, I tried to expand my skills while working on personal sites. It’s been hard to gain any traction to say the least, but there have been good moments as well.

This site is giving feelings of opportunity and incoming traffic. The Depop app is a popular one and having it in this site’s domain should help it rank.
