If you’re a reseller, one of the most popular options for online stores is the app called Depop. It allows users to build their personal stores to start selling products while also being a marketplace for buying stylish clothing.
The potential for each store is endless, but the fact is that while the user interface does look cool, there’s a learning process to get through. There’s things like shipping, making offers, choosing the right price, and more to think about.
Creating your listing
When you first join Depop, your store will be empty. What you will want to do is take pictures of your items and list them on the store. Basic things to keep in mind are:
- Good lighting
- Posting at least nine to fill up the initial page
- Good product descriptions
- Consistent images
For new users, Depop will help the first few days by ‘boosting’ your listings. This helps the listings get more views. Additionally, Depop’s interface is similar to IG, so you’ll want to add your profile pic and bio.
Monitoring the store
Keep up with people who are liking your items and follow up by sending an offer or a message asking what they might be looking for.
Also each listing shows you how many people have liked it, how many views it’s gotten, and what offers people are sending.
Keeping an eye on all this just helps gauge what items are gathering more interest which can be used as a reference for future postings.
Making the sale
When a customer sends you an offer. You have the option to reject or accept. If you decide the price is acceptable, then proceed to the accepting part and get ready to ship your item.
Packaging
You will be responsible for packaging, which at the postal office should cost less than five bucks for generic shipping envelopes and boxes.
You can also use your own packaging material and save money at the postal office. As long as the item fits well it should be okay.
Mailing Tag
Depop provides this for the seller, and they will send you a barcode that you can use at the postal office so they can print out the tag for you. Just make sure all the information looks correct and check your email for the bar code from Depop.

Once you’ve paid for the tag and the packaging, your shipment will be in process.
Speed of shipment
The faster you ship, the better status you’ll receive. Gold shippers are the fastest.
